This Australian native grows as an erect or spreading, sometimes open shrub to 1.5m tall with lance shaped to egg shaped leaves, 4 - 8.5mm long on long thin branches. The flowers are purple red and are arranged in bottlebrush type spikes on the ends of branches in Spring to Summer, these are followed by woody capsules occurring in clusters, 12mm long.
 
This is endemic to SW WA, usually growing in soils that are derived from laterite or granite on rocky slopes.
 
Best in well drained soils in full sun and grown in areas with lower humidity, tolerates drought and light frost.
 
Makes a fantastic garden specimen, in rockeries, as a verge planting or in containers, can be grown well in sloping gardens, helps with erosion control, attracts birds, bees and other insects.
