Go see the most famous wall in Prague. A wall that never changes but always changes its style; the historic Lennon Wall.

How can Lennon Wall look different each time you visit? The Lennon Wall is open to artists and tourists like you to add your own little piece of art to the wall. Since it’s constantly changing with tons of people drawing over the previous art you’ll never see the same wall twice. That’s why we love it.

Do you know the story behind Lennon Wall? After John Lennon died in 1980, Czech students who looked up to him put together a mural for him. But the secret police didn’t like it one bit. Back and forth they went but the students prevailed and now we have the Lennon Wall as an iconic monument to see while visiting Prague. A must visit for Beatles fans.

  • Depending on when you go you may actually see someone working on the wall and adding their own design to the mural. Quite often it’s students who are keeping the tradition alive that started over 40 years ago.
  • The wall itself is in a secluded little area right next to the Charles Bridge that you wouldn’t find that easily. But over the years more and more people have been going to see this piece of history.
  • The wall itself is a metaphor for freedom. When communism was at its peak and students wanted freedom of speech they used the wall as their outlet. Thankfully it’s been preserved for all of us to go and view it.
