Bitis arietans (Merrem, 1820)

Large viper with large, triangular head with small eyes on top of the snout. Body thick and heavy ending in a short, thin tail. Colour varies but basically shades of brown with a series of light or dark V-shaped crossbands. Length up to 1.8 m.
