Another failure rectified and line back to full line speed, this time out at Aycliffe on the ECML. After several weeks of 24/7 monitoring for the construction phase and gradual increases of line speed we finally got back back to full line speed earlier this week. It’s projects like this where many really see the benefits of an effective monitoring system in place, monitoring here was the deciding factor of how we approached reopening of the line whilst ensuring the increases didn’t affect the asset any further nor put anyone in danger. Analysis of data and predicting trends was a key factor here to ensure we can rectify any track movements prior to them reaching any thresholds set, we don’t wait for them to happen we predict and rectify to avoid any unnecessary impacts on running services. Considering the emergency nature of this project it was managed and delivered very well, once again a true collaborative approach by all involved.
