Today, we’re excited to share that the OptiMVD is now listed in the SAE J300 Engine Oil Viscosity Specifications. The OptiMVD, which measures kinematic viscosity in accordance with ASTM D7945, can now serve as a key test for classification of engine oils in the lubricant industry. As the world increasingly commits to steeper decarbonization targets, the aviation industry is determined to develop sustainable solutions to produce cost-competitive, high-yield jet fuel with minimal environmental impact. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that the 2024 production volume of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) will triple from 2023 levels – soaring to 1.5 million tonnes. With this new development, the OptiReader which measures the fuel deposit depths on heater tubes used in the ASTM D3241 JFTOT test, can now serve as a key test for certifying Jet Fuel and Synthetic Aviation Fuel (SAF) for use in commercial and military aviation.
