A very unique and atmospheric motorbike game with nice music.

Didn't get it the first time I tried this game. But lately I'm hooked.

Graphics are reasonable for a budget game. It's fun to explore and you can go pretty fast!
Of course, now I'm searching for those icons.

But what brings it up a few notches is the music by the iconic Rob Hubbard! Check out the inferior Atari version. You can hear the difference.

I remember I collected all the parts it told me to a couple of times but then I would fail to quality for the race, even though t was only drag race so I couldn't have done much wrong, surely? Unless there were optional upgrades I missed?
Great game though, still
The Speccy 'version' was actually a completely different game entirely that happened to have the same name and branding - not sure what happened there!

Great budget game. Not too demanding and just good fun to play.

MissyTCat, how do you know what prawn shit tastes like?

Another game that was well worth the £2 asking price. I really remember this more for the sheer amount we sold. It was incredibly popular. Personally, it was a little too difficult, as were a lot of Mastertronic games so I probably POKE'd my way to victory. Well worth a play. 6

I loved this! The iso-3d map was simply drawn, but it was suprisingly big with a lot of fun decorations, making it fun to explore. You had to go around the map finding mods to add to your bike (eg better fairings, better tyres etc) and then enter it into a race at the end. You'd only win if you'd found all the improvements you could add to your bike. Clumsy Colin was used by KP crisps in their TV adverts at the time. Last time I tried Skips they tasted like prawn shit!

Played this one a lot on its release as I broke my leg, fishing of all things, which coincided with this games release. It had a real feeling of open world exploration. Very decent isometric 3D style graphics and the usual quality memorable music by the maestro Rob Hubbard. I can still hum its bouncy tune from memory to this day. Slightly on the tough side (the roller coaster claimed me on many occasions) but it certainly had that one more go appeal. A nostalgic and possibly over generous 8 out of 10 as it was one of the games which helped me from going crackers with my leg up in plaster. :)

I'm sure I got this game by collecting packets of Skips Crisps and sending off for the cassette. Anyone else did this?

I remember the feeling of being able to drive around wherever I liked - something that was really novel back then. I never finished it, but this game keeps me coming back for pure a nostagia fix.

8/10.

I loved this back in the day, but I just played a version of it that was incomplete - it was missing the waterskis and those tricky items in the water. I completed it far sooner than I was expecting to - I don't like this inferior version! The best version has waterskis!

One of the earliest games I owned and played a lot. Driving around was fun though some of the objects could be difficult to reach and required patience and a little bit of skill. I didn't really have either of the two so ended up just zooming around at full speed and crashing.

I recall spending a lot of time in this game. Probably way more than I should have. I used to try very hard to collect bike pieces, but usually would crash and die at some point. Sometimes I would just try to go as fast as I could turning and evading obstacles as to not get hurt and crash. Fun game... But I think it really depended on the my personal mood at the time if I was able to really get into it.

A decent idea and well executed but nigh on impossible to finish. Would a junk food brand get away with endorsing a video game these days?

I can't believe how long I used to play this game for. The feeling you got when you made a difficult jump to get a new part was great but I did just ride around as fast as I could at times and just attempt stunts without crashing. Simple fun and all that.

Roam around, find the items scattered about the map to improve your bike for the race. Some are in hard to reach places like on the high beams of the construction site, and require careful manoeuvring of your bike to reach. When you've got enough pieces then go to the race and drive up the finishing straight!

Great faux 3-d graphics for the time, and the catchy Rob Hubbard tune is instantly recognisable and timeless.

This game is an example that a lack of depth doesn't make a bad game as long as it's fun. Driving around collecting items enjoying the speed, graphics and music is a blast.

The controls are superbly done and deaths mainly feel like your own fault.

It only loses points for sometimes trying to spot the next object can become a chore. As you find them, it's best to note down their locations for next time.

8/10

I bought this thanks to a review in Zzap! And very pleased with it I was. An excellent way to get all nostalgic about C64 gaming.

I only played this a little but, I should give it a go again, I wasn't exactly sure what to do, I remember crashing allot, but I did like the free roaming possibility of the game.

Classic game... I did a remix of the main song and a speedy longplay for the game, showing the locations of all the items, and the fantastic ending sequence (sarcasm!) - it can be viewed here... youtube.com/watch?v=TFfmjpf7tiE

Played many hours on Atari 800xl. Open ended and enough cool items to keep you trying for more. This one is quite memorable. 8/10

What made this game particularly wonderful was the assortment of items to be collected, and the sheer brilliance of having some of them upgrade the bike and directly affect the gameplay.

Very compelling to see what you might end up picking up next.

This had me glued to the C64 and for 1 squid 99 pee! Total bargain! Nice colourful graphics, bouncy music and a really playable game. It was so much fun searching for the next item, especially on the roller coaster and building site! Great fun! :D

I used to draw a map while I was playing this. The only way to remember where the different things were.
I found that map a couple of weeks ago. It was 17 years ago since I made that map, and I was 10.

Funny game for a little session. There are several parcours to complete. The music is also nice but gets boring after some time of playing. 6/10.

Played it when it was released..
beat many hard games on the C64 (Green Beret, Paradroid) but this one was too hard and the tune heart me mentally after playing the game for abaut 3hours.. But which tune lasts for 3 Hours in a row???

Entertaining game for £1.99. Found the way the game ended disappointing though.
Ed Waddington 2004-04-22
A brilliant game, hours of fun. Very difficult, but amazingly satisfying when completed. Skis to go on the water were great. A bargain!
neilcollins666 2004-02-17
You b*****s! I've got that bloody tune in my head now! Great game - very addictive. Only cost 2 quid. I completed it a few times, got to the end, to the race track, flew up the track and... It went back to the title screen. Very disappointed with the ending after all those hours of playing. Still a cracking little budget game. And yes Mr Morris, you can still get skips...
6Commodore4 2004-02-12
CLASSIC, pure and simple, my friend and I played this damn game for hours upon... Non stop, then when we did stop we wouldn't play it for a month or so... Haha I love this game and now I own it.
dogboy73 2004-01-04
I spent hours on this trying to collect all those little collectable things! A top little game for £1.99 I thought. And Sand Monkey, That Roller coaster thing was the death of my Action biker playing as well.
Craig Morris 2003-12-19
Had this on the Speccy and had a completely different viewpoint (Overhead) Very frustrating if I remember. Anyway are Skips still being produced nowadays?
Sand monkey 2003-07-02
Damn you rollercoaster thingy!
i sat there for 3 hours when i got this game trying to geet round the coaster style thingy, eventually i gave up and admitted that i sucked at it...
Fizza 2003-05-03
I thought it was quite good, not earth shatteringly addictive or anything, a bit like Skips, enjoyable while they last but not terribly memorable.. Or was that a fluffy ice cream? Hmm..
TWR 2003-04-23
An oldie but no goldie. Rather boring with simple graphics. The only good thing is the smooth cool music.
Vance Carson 2003-02-02
This game represents the epitome of all that is good in the world. If Hitler had played this game, he would have found an inner peace the likes of which can only be achieved through either Action Biker, intense meditation or heavy sedatives. The music is quite simply the best around. This game deserves the respect and attention of all. 10 out of 10. Thanx Action Biker: and thank you Rob Hubbard.
Lemonope 2003-01-27
This is one classic I could never forget. Sure the game map was small, but your goal was to power-up your motorcycle by collecting flashing icons. I love this so much I finished it and finished and finished it!
sauron101 2003-01-13
AH! This was the first game I ever bought. Thanks serpicode your've just reminded me of THAT TUNE which is now in my head and WONT go away now cheers!!! AAAARRRRGGGHH!!!
Tony Phrapapino 2002-10-17
This was the first game I ever played on my uncles new C64! He later gave it to me as a present when I got my own. What a game!
Mike 2002-09-23
Who'd have thought that an archiac KP skips promotion could have spawned such an endearing computer game?

Pixel perfect isometric motorbiking has never been this much fun! Can you collect all the upgrades to turn your bike from a moped into a super bike?

Rock hard, but good clean fun and a jolly Rob Hubbard ditty to keep you company as you play!
Serpicode 2002-07-22
The song... The action biker song. It has played in my mind nonstop now for 15 years. Help me... Kill me... Make it stop.
fishdune 2002-03-20
To me a classic after I fininally completed it. 17 years later I cant be bothered anymore with this game. But I sometimes have a quick crack at it with an emulator.
matty b 2002-02-18
Hours and hours and hours and hours of listening to one of the greatest mind numbing tunes! Great game, addictive & better than anyone. 99 er on the land - where did playstaion go wrong!!
KindarSpirit 2002-02-17
I remember being so fascinated by this as a kid, but as I got older it became a subconcious background thing (like Tetris!) while playing on the phone. That music gets to you eventually as well.
Philip Burgwin 2002-02-16
More or less agree with what the main review said. Rather small landscape and only a handfull of obstacle courses to navigate (in other worlds a small world to navigate/ride around). An OK biker game for a quick ten minute blast but its not gonna keep u entertained for much longer than that.
Shane 2002-02-02
For 1.99 this game was fantastic value. OK so the landscape wasn't massive but there was a simple pleasure to be had from trying to find all the items and improve your bike.
PeeknPoke 2001-12-28
A classic example of how to make a good budget game, easy on the eye (And a lovely twee Hubbard soundtrack) makes this a fun £1.99'er indeed.
