Description
These North American native shrubs bloom in mid-spring with myriad, sweetly scented golden blossoms. The (usually) sweet fruits ripen in later summer, and the birds often devour them before the gardener gets much more than a few nibbles. Seedlings pop up around the yard, thus revealing where the birds have repaid the gardener’s generosity. Full sun to part sun, medium to medium-low moisture, 4-7′ tall and 3-5′ wide. Hardy in Zones 4 through 8.
