SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - A 35-year-old man was arrested in Salem after being spotted by police on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., Salem officers saw Daniel Ralph Northcutt in the area of the 3300 block of Astoria WY northeast.

Northcutt ran into a hotel and initially refused to exit a room but surrendered, Salem police said.

A 39-year-old man accused of killing two women and abducting a 1-year-old boy shot himself after a chase with police on I-5 near Eugene on Tuesday.

When police searched the room and car they found two guns, a handgun and sawed-off shotgun, as well as 1.5 ounces and 50 pills of a drug suspected to be fentanyl. They also found $1000.

Northcutt also had outstanding warrants and was lodged at a county jail on the charges:

  • felon in possession of a firearm
  • unlawful possession of a short-barreled firearm
  • unlawful possession of a schedule II controlled substance
  • unlawful delivery of a schedule II controlled substance.
