Provide individualized Music Therapy interventions to 15+ terminally ill patients and their families per week, in coordination with other interdisciplinary care team members.


 

Private practice - Music Therapy 1999 - Present 

Music Therapist-bc Planning and facilitation of Music Therapy group sessions, small (1-6 clients) and large (7-15 clients), designed for older adults with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease in Assisted Living, RCFE's, In-patient Psych and SNF facilities. Selection of repertoire and multi-sensorial experiences targeted toward individual as well as group needs in order to foster a sense of self-worth, psychosocial and spiritual well-being.


 

Mobile Music Therapy Services of Orange County 1999 

Intern, Clinical Training Four months hands-on training at eight separate facilities weekly. Populations served: Skilled Nursing, Seniors Intermediate Care, Locked Psychiatric, State Developmental Center, Intermediate Care for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, and Group Homes for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, including cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and hearing loss. Planning/implementation of Large (25+ clients) and Small (10-15 clients) group music therapy sessions designed for clients 18 months to 102 years of age. Selection of repertoire and multi-sensorial activities appropriate for diverse populations.


 

Metropolitan State Hospital, Norwalk, CA. 1997

Intern, Clinical Training Three months hands-on training within two separate hospital units/ populations: Forensic Males legally determined as incompetent to stand trial for crimes allegedly committed and Children with Psychiatric Disorders. Planning/implementation of music therapy sessions designed specifically for this clientele, including reality orientation, tone chime choir, musical walking group. Collaboration with Social Work, Psychiatric, Nursing and Recreation Therapy staff members. Collaboration in Care Plan Meetings.


 

Chapman University, Orange, CA. 1994 - 1997

Undergraduate Field Work Chapman Lyceum - Rehabilitative educational environment for Adolescents who have penetrated the legal system. Charter Hospital - Outpatient/Inpatient Psychiatric Adults. Coordinate/direct various instrumental chamber ensembles for weekly and high feast day services, diocesan gatherings and conferences; Select, prepare and direct rehearsal of appropriate repertoire.
