Plants are tall (2 m), reed-like tussocks with a diameter of approximately 1 metre at the base in some cases and a spread of 3 metres or more at the top. The seed comes in the form of a tiny nutlet inside the old flower (possibly seed seen in photo 4- red capsule). Sheaves of leaves seen along the stem, of length no longer than 5 mm
