Jonathan Rhys Meyers has made his first public appearance in two years, with a stunning model by his side.

The actor, (35) made a welcome return to the limelight as he attended the Place For Peace dinner in London on Saturday night.

And on his arm was model Victoria Keon-Cohen.

The 26-year-old Australian beauty is the founder and co-chairperson of the UK’s first trade union for models, the Equity Models Union.

The Cork actor has not been linked with anyone since splitting with his long

The Cork actor has been single since February, when he was last pictured with long-term girlfriend, Reena Hammer. London-based student Reena is heiress to mother Ruby Hammer's cosmetics line, Ruby & Millie.

The couple were together for seven years. Jonathan was previously linked to his Velvet Goldmine co-star, Toni Colette.

The Tudors star has struggled with alcohol and depression in recent years. In 2007 he was arrested at Dublin airport and charged under the Public Order Act last month, although the charges were later dropped by the DPP.

However, his appearance at Saturday’s function in London will bring some cheer for fans of Rhys Meyers.

He was sporting a dark suit, while Victoria was dressed in white, and the smart-looking couple cut a dash as they made an entrance.

This is his first public event in two years – and with Victoria by his side he looks like he’s back on top form.

The actor has been filming his new movie, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in Toronto. Jonathan plays bad guy Valentine Morgenstern in the film and appears alongside Jamie Campbell-Bower and Lily Collins, as well as Irish actors Aidan Turner and Robert Sheehan, who also star in the adaption of the young adult fantasy series by Cassandra Claire.

The author has expressed her pleasure that Jonathan has taken on the film role.

She said: “I’ve liked JRM since he was in Velvet Goldmine. He was great in Match Point and Bend It Like Beckham and lots of my other favourite movies.

“Ireland, we have cleaned you out of your hot men. Sorry about that. You can have them back in three months.”
