The Nearctic is a dark form of the Two form bumble bee that is found in the northern and western range.

Size:

Queen 15 - 19 mm
Workers 8 - 14 mm
Male 8 - 13 mm

Flowers:

Aster, Centaurea, Chrysothamnus, Cirsium, Epilobium, Ericameria, Haplopappus, Helenium, Lupinus, Melilotus, Monardella, Penstemon, Ribes, Senecio, Solidago, and Symphoricarpos.

Nest:

Nests usually built underground, but sometimes on ground surface

Similar species:

B. huntii, B. melanopygus, B. mixtus, B. rufocinctus, and B. sylvicola
