Aerangis fastuosa

I believe this plant originally came from Malala Orchidees in Madagascar, although it arrived in the U.S. via a nursery in the Netherlands. This species has two or three subspecies, and you will note variations in flower size and shape if you Google although most are referred to as simply fastuosa.

I have it hanging on my cool wall with my other angraecoids, although you can see from the purplish leaves that it's growing in a spot that's a bit too bright. When new, the leaves are a favorite snack of rogue roaches, hence, the bite marks! Grrr.

There are four blooms total this year, and the fragrance is light, but wonderfully sweet...night and day. The spurs don't seem to extend straight, but remain curly.

From left to right, the leaf span is just over 4", and the blooms measure 1-1/4" across.
