The Everett Silvertips landed their second 2004-born prospect Wednesday as the club announced the signing of Max Graham, a forward from Kelowna, British Columbia.
Graham, who is listed at 5-foot-11, 155 pounds, has multiple connections to the Silvertips organization.
The left winger plays on a line with the Silvertips’ other signed 2004-born prospect, Austin Roest, with the Okanagan Rockets Minor Midget team. Graham, who wasn’t selected in the bantam draft, leads the British Columbia Minor Midget League (BCMIML) with 26 goals and is second behind Scott Cousins of the Cariboo Cougars with 47 points.
Also, Graham’s father, John Graham, played for Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson in 1990-1991 with the Penticton Panthers of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League, when Davidson was the team’s general manager and head coach.
“He’s just one of those guys that has a real positive trend in his growth and development right now,” Davidson said. “He plays an in-your-face kind of game, which his dad also did. I think he’s got a lot of real positive attributes.”
Graham was a standout at the Silvertips’ training camp in August and was named to the Prospects Game, which exhibited the best 2004-born players, at the end of camp.
What’s more, Davidson estimates Graham has grown a couple of inches since then.
“We’re pretty excited that we listed him when we did and it just goes to show that you don’t have to be drafted to get an opportunity at this level,” Davidson said.
