12 celebrities who've spoken openly about plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures

Chrissy Teigen has always taken a candid, open approach to social media, and cosmetic surgery isn't a conversation she has shied away from.

She recently revealed that she had undergone further surgery to remove her breast implants, posting a candid photo on Instagram about the experience. While her trademark full cheeks, she assures us, are her own, she has had liposuction on her armpits too, about which she has "no regrets, except it came back".

"I was the first person to ever admit that I did Botox, and my mom was upset," explained the supermodel Linda Evangelista to Harper's Bazaar US.

"I said, 'Mom everybody does it,' and she was like, 'Yeah but they don't say it.' So if I was the first one to tell the truth about using it then, why would I lie about it now?"

Judy Murray, the tennis coach and mother of British tennis champions Andy and Jamie Murray, reanimated the conversation around face lifts when she announced her own impressive results.

The 61-year-old went to Dr Todd's Synergy Clinic in Glasgow and received a 'non-surgical' face lift involving micro-needling and radio frequency, demonstrating that full surgery no longer has to be the only option.

"Jamie and Andy started to call me turkey neck ... in a loving and jokey way, and that may have had something to do with me thinking I really should do something about this," she told the Mail. "I didn’t tell them anything about the treatments I was having, but they noticed the difference."

Nicole Kidman used to have Botox but admitted that she's since stopped because she had overdone the procedure and struggled to move her face.

"I did try Botox, unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again," the actress said, reports The Huffington Post.

It's important to note that discussions around plastic surgery don't simply evolve around wanting to look younger. In 2013, Angelina Jolie spoke openly about her preventative double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery in a New York Times story appropriately called 'My Medical Choice.'

"There have been many advances in this procedure in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful," the actress explained.

Gwyneth Paltrow might be well known for her 'clean beauty' empire Goop, but that doesn't mean she hasn't had Botox and laser treatments in the past.

"I've probably tried everything", she said to Harper's Bazaar US back in 2013. "I would be scared to go under the knife, but you know, talk to me when I'm 50. I'll try anything. Except I won't do Botox again, because I looked crazy."

Kaley Cuoco revealed to Women's Health US that having a breast augmentation was "the best thing I ever did". The actress, who has also spoken about having rhinoplasty and a round of fillers, also commented: "As much as you want to love your inner self, I’m sorry, you also want to look good. I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing."

In an interview with People magazine, Bündchen revealed that she had a breast augmentation after having children children, but that she regrets it.

"I was always praised for my body, and I felt like people had expectations from me that I couldn’t deliver," the supermodel explained. "When I woke up, I felt like I was living in a body I didn’t recognise. For the first year I wore [baggy] clothes because I felt uncomfortable.”

If it's rare for actresses and models to discuss the procedures they have had, it's rarer still for those close to the royal family to do so. However, when asked about her youthful glow at her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding, the Duchess of York candidly revealed that she's used Botox in the past, as well as having mesotherapy, dermal fillers and "no-knife laser facelifts".

In an interview with Into The Gloss, Chloë Sevigny recommended her dermatologist Dr Colbert who she goes to every six months.

"I get all different kinds of treatments from him—Ulthera, Botox. I think Botox is good! It's just a preventative for my 11 lines, but also he's very conservative because I'm an actress."

Cindy Crawford has been open about having Botox in the past, telling the now-defunct InStyle UK: "I owe the quality of my skin to my cosmetic surgeon."

"I’m not going to lie to myself, past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, Botox, and collagen," she continued.

After having her fillers dissolved in 2017, Courtney Cox has learned to accept the ageing process. "Things are going to change," she said. "I was trying to make [my face] not drop, but that made me look fake. I've had to learn to embrace movement and realise that fillers are not my friend."
