Sorry, this item has sold.

Escobaria missouriensis (also classified as Coryphantha missouriensis ), is a clump forming succulent known commonly as the "Nipple Cactus, "Missouri Pincushion Cactus" and "Missouri Foxtail Cactus". This cold hardy plant is native to a large part of the United States and has been found growing in portions of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota. North Dakota and Idaho. We have been propagating these for years and remain one of the only sources for these cacti.

E. missouriensis is low growing with much of the stem remaining underground. It is most noticeable in late spring or early summer when numerous straw yellow flowers decorate the plant (see final listing photo). The flowers are followed by seed pods that are bright red. This cactus branches regularly and can form mounds that are over a foot in diameter. This is one of the few cactus that can be grown outdoors year round in every part of the US. It is very drought tolerant and hardy to 30 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.

The first six listing photos show the exact plants being made available and they are identifiable by their corresponding letters.

Pot "B": Cluster of 16 stems sharing a single root system. Largest stem is 1 inch in diameter and the cluster measures 4-1/2 x 3 inches. Photographed in a 6 inch pot.

Pot "C": Cluster of 14 stems sharing a single root system. Largest stem is 2 inches in diameter and the cluster measures 6-1/2 x 4 inches. Shown in a 8 inch pot.

All will be shipped with very little soil and without their pots.

These plants require well draining soil, and we have had the best results growing them in a 50/50 mixture of coarse sand and cactus potting mix. They should be watered sparingly, only after their soil has dried completely and remained that way for a minimum of one week. They should be placed in an area that receives full sun for the first half of the day, however they should be protected from late afternoon sunlight. This is especially important in warmer areas of the country.

Shipping to any address within the United States is included in the listing prices, with the following exceptions:
We cannot ship these to addresses within the states of California, Hawaii, Alaska or to any of the US island territories.
