James Blunt does NOT think You're Beautiful is an appropriate song for a wedding

"If you think You're Beautiful is romantic, you're f***ed up."

If, like us, you've never really paid attention to the lyrics of James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful' all the way through, possibly due to falling into a coma, then you'll probably be totally on board with the many people who have chosen to have it as their wedding dance. However, in a typically entertaining interview, Blunt has explained why this is a terrible choice given the subject matter.

Blunt told The Huffington Post, “Everyone goes, ‘Ah, he’s so romantic. I want 'You’re Beautiful' as my wedding song.’ These people are fucked up."

But hang on, isn't it a lovely song about feeling very positive towards a lady? They covered it on Sesame Street!

Er, no, says Blunt.

“You get labeled with these things like, ‘Oh, James Blunt. Isn’t he just a soft romantic?’ Well, fuck that. No, I’m not. ‘You’re Beautiful’ is not this soft romantic fucking song. It’s about a guy who’s high as a fucking kite on drugs in the subway stalking someone else’s girlfriend when that guy is there in front of him, and he should be locked up or put in prison for being some kind of perv.”

Blunt added that he was lucky to have been able to make a song that so many people love.

“But too much of a good thing turns into a bad thing eventually, and it got a lot of airplay, and it doesn’t take much to work out that kind of thing. I love hamburgers, but if you give me a hamburger for every meal I’m gonna tire of it,” he said. “Is it an annoying song? No, it’s not, unless it’s shoved down your fucking throat a shitload.”

And while he might be a bit bored of 'You're Beautiful', he said that dismissing it altogether would be disrespectful to his fans.

“The fact that you and I are talking really is only because of that song," he said. "It’s one of the highlights of the concerts. Not the highlight, but one of them, and for me it’s a highlight because it’s almost the end of the concert and nearly time for a beer.”

Further proof that James Blunt is God's gift to interviews. What a hero.
