Ceratopteris thalictroides

Ceratopteris thalictroides is an aquatic variety of fern, commonly known as water sprite.  Water sprite makes an exemplary aquarium plant for beginners because it is not only pretty, but able to thrive in a variety of conditions.  Low - High lighting and varying water qualities don't create an issue for Ceratopteris thalictroides.  The delicate looking leaf texture of water sprite adds to its beauty in the aquarium.  It can grow planted in the substrate or floating on the surface, where many breeders use it as an attractive cover for eggs and fry.
