About Ardisia crenata. Ardisia crenata, or ardisia, is a compact, evergreen shrub. It may grow up to 4-5 ft tall and wide. Its leaves are in a dark green color, thick, glossy with tightly waved edges. Ardisia begins to flower two years after sprouting. In the US, it blooms in the late spring to early summer with small, white or reddish and fragrant flowers. Their berries are white, coral or red in a spherical shape and one-seeded clustered below the foliage and are often present year-round.

Care Tips. Ardisia can do well with any kind of soil mix with a good moisture retention, but not too compact for aeration. The plant thrives in medium to bright, indirect light and may take soft morning direct light. Water the 1-2 days after the soil surface becomes dry. Ardisia likes cool to average room temperatures of 60–70°F. Feed the plant monthly during the growing season with an all-purpose fertilizer at half strength.
