Ralph Smith Hughes
October 19, 1933 – December 16, 2020

Ralph, born to Floyd Hughes and Laura Leola Smith Follis in Forest, Mississippi on October 19, 1933. He lived with is loving parents and sister, Fannie Margrette Hughes Jones (deceased).
Ralph received his education in the Indianapolis Public School System at School #23, #17 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. He went on to attend H & R Block Tax School and retired from the American Can Company after 30 years of service. Upon retirement, he kept busy working for the Cardinal Health and CTA Transit Courier Companies.
Ralph joined and was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, was an active choir member and taught Sunday School. While attending Eastside Baptist Church, he was united in marriage to Mary Anita Phillips in December,1973. He fellowshipped with Eastside Baptist Church family members until he later joined Nu Corinthian Baptist Church in November 2004. At Nu Corinthian Baptist church, he continued serving the Lord as an Elder, member of the Dad’s Club and he occasionally sang with the Men’s Chorus.
Ralph leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Mary Anita Hughes, his children: Faith Hughes (deceased), Angelique Hughes Johnson (Charles), Kevin Hughes (deceased), Ralph (Rik) Hughes (Kelly), and Monique R. Hamilton. He also leaves fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
