VERNON, B.C. - The trial of a former Vernon, B.C., teacher and vice-principal has heard the woman regularly took the accuser and his friends out for meals and movies and that she usually paid for everything.

Deborah Ashton has pled not guilty to five sex charges involving a former Grade 7 student dating back to 2002 when the boy was 12 years old.

One of his friends has told court they would sometimes go to Ashton's house and watch movies on her bed and go in her hot tub.

The alleged victim's brother, who is 23, testified he never saw anything inappropriate but that Ashton came over to their house a lot and on one occasion fell asleep in a room with his brother.

He also says Ashton once took the brothers to a sports store in Kelowna and bought them hundreds of dollars worth of basketball jerseys and shoes.

Ashton's lawyer continues to suggest the accuser and his friends have cooked up the sexual stories to embarrass his client.
