"One second sorry, my husband's face-timing me," Eva Longoria said, holding up her iPhone for a few seconds before starting our interview.

It's a Thursday after 10 p.m. and the actress still has more work to do. She has just finished judging Chivas: The Venture, a start-up competition focused on businesses that help communities. She's also done a red carpet event and a press conference.

"If I'm not moving forward, I'm moving faster forward," she said, laughing.

Nearly every hour of Longoria's life is scheduled around the things she needs to get done.

Time management, she said, has been crucial to her success.

"My schedule is usually like rocket science," said Longoria, who besides having kicked off her heels looks like she could tackle another workday.

When she's not acting, hosting an event or taking care of her family, Longoria is running one of two foundations: the Eva Longoria Foundation, which helps Latinas pursue entrepreneurship and education, and Eva's Heroes, which empowers people with special needs.

Best known for her roles in "Desperate Housewives" and "The Young and the Restless", Longoria is also set to star in the upcoming movie "Refugio" and the TV mini-series "Decline and Fall".

"I prioritize," she said. "I do conference calls while I'm driving. I do all my reading while I'm flying. I'm very efficient with my time."

For this high-powered celebrity, being more productive starts with identifying things that waste your time.

"People waste more time than they realize," she said. "How long are you checking your Instagram?"

You've got to know what's the most important thing in your life right now and focus on that.

Her advice? Figure out what you want out of life, and then organize your schedule around it.

"I recommend you prioritize, and that starts with having goals," she said. "You've got to know what's the most important thing in your life right now and focus on that."
