Description:

Watercolor on paper illustrating a cluster of grey mushrooms. Jervey noted along the bottom "Coprinus atramentarius. Edible" and wrote on reverse, "If you are an enthusiastic mycologist you will find yourself kneeling down to pick up a 25lb Chicken Mushroom. Or maybe by a stump with 7 Turkey Mushrooms - polyporus frondosus (which I found myself doing.) & the smallest one weighed 15lbs. See National Geographic May 1920."
