Interview with Barry Andrews

The Swindon-based Shriekback main man and one-time XTC keyboard player spoke to BBC Wiltshire recently. Listen online.

Barry Andrews is a familiar face on the Swindon live music circuit, which is no surprise considering he used to be a member of the town's most popular and respected musical export.

Barry played keyboards in Swindon new wave art rockers XTC between 1976 and 1978, and is featured on their first two albums White Music and Go 2.

After leaving XTC, Barry went on to form rock/dance act Shriekback who enjoyed considerable success in the eighties and are still active today.

In recent years Barry has been collaborating once again with XTC frontman Andy Partridge, this time on the experimental project Monstrance.

Barry recently dropped into the BBC Wiltshire studios to talk with avowed XTC fan Euron Griffith about  some of his favourite records of all time, his early days in XTC, working with David Bowie and Robert Fripp and success in the eighties with Shriekback.
