This Calceolaria is one of my top ten favorite plants I’ve grown! The super-showy yellow slipper flowers are so lovely & unusual. Each one is 2” big & surrounded by a yellow bract that persists even after the flower drops. The bracts are just as nice as the flowers & make it seem to retain its bloom even longer. This is a fun plant to grow as it likes to tumble around & climb through its neighbors. I grow mine at the base of an Abutilon which it climbs up & looks fabulous as they bloom together. It also makes a pretty groundcover in mild climates. It has soft fuzzy leaves, blooms just about year-round & can really light up a garden. Grows to about 6’ tall or wide. In a cool-summer climate it can take morning sun but anywhere hot it should be planted in shade.
