Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Hitler's chilling secret is revealed, but will anyone believe it in time to save the sleeping neutral nations?

American Journalist Josephine Marlow knows firsthand the horrors of war - the bombs, the senseless slaughter when Warsaw fell to the Nazis. Now assigned to the Paris AP office, Josie sees the impending danger. Spies have already infiltrated the countries of Beligium and Holland and stand ready to assist with the invasion.

As French civilians are evacuated from the countryside to Paris and the cadets at the Ecole de Calverie prepare for war, French colonel Andre Chardon heads a top-secret project. It could turn the tide of the war...but will the discovery be too late?

Great storyline for this book series.

Europe tried to keep its head in the sand, but they are now officially at war in PARIS ENCORE (Book 8). Even proclaimed neutral nations cannot escape getting caught in the middle. An American photographer and a Czech refugee find love in spite of the turmoil that surrounds them, as well as a French colonel and an American journalist. Matters of the heart go on, it seems. But the main focus are the cruel actions and devastating effects of the Germans on innocent people, especially children. It is that horror that torments even a high-ranking German officer. Will it destroy his marriage and his own mental health? Or will he too find ways to do what he can for the cause of true good? The series is winding down now with this next-to-last installment, but it is filled with danger, history, and the love of God that motivates sacrifice and goodness.

When I read the book I want more. So rich in history, love, romance and good over great evil. I want to visit the places described in book

As always, I love the Thoene series & enjoyed this book as well as the others. Can't wait to start book 9, the last of this series. If you want to learn the history leading up to WWII - Hitler's plan for eliminating the Jewish people - this is a great resource.

The Thoenes write wonderful books. They have thoroughly done research. You learn a lot and enjoy a story at the same time. I devour their books.

Like the other books in this series, it is excellent. Keeps the reader in suspense and longing to read the next chapter to see what will happen next. Highly recommended it for those interested in learning about WW2 through fictional characters that make it become more real.

I love the Zion Covenant Series, but Books 7, 8 and 9 are largely taken from  The Twilight of Courage  with only a little bit of new information regarding characters who were not part of that book. At $7.99 for each of these, I don't really feel I've gotten full value since I already own  The Twilight of Courage  and read it before starting the Covenant Series. For those who haven't read it, don't bother -- just read the series and you'll get the full story and more.

Otherwise, the series is compelling and both well-researched and well-written. I highly recommend it to those who like WWII historical or Holocaust fiction. I think it would be a terrific selection for a book club of Christian readers, as each book of the series contains a list of questions designed to help the reader dig a little deeper and examine his or her own faith more fully.

This is a wonderful series. I have learned so much about WWII and continue to google some of the places and people from this book to learn even more. It makes me grateful for all that I have and for the blessings of living during this current time. The characters really held my attention. I only wish that there would be closure on some of the characters.

Another great, suspenseful historical novel! I really enjoy historical novels (rather than just history) and the authors again impressed me with their accurate historical facts.

3.0 out of 5 stars STILL A GOOD READ....

This book from the Zion Covenant, I have to say, is not as good as the previous ones. There is a lack of strength to the characters and a certain pointlessness to part of this story, which jumps from one situation to another. I felt there was little continuity to any of the events. I am on the last of this series of books now, and most certainly the earlier books were far better. Vienna Prelude was wonderful, but after that, well, I would have liked to know what happened to some of the characters, which now seemed to have been totally "lost". The events in Warsaw were just so sad and tragic, and I believe this was really how it was. However, what happened to some of the characters? Where did they end up? I think the whole Zion Covenant a work of art, but some of the books were a disappointment - this one including. Perhaps the last one will be better.
