Bocconia frutescens update.
Its really gotten thicker if not too much taller..the old pot grown stems are now replaced with real mature like growth. Also a bloom. Interesting plant not seen much. Like Wigandia, its a roadside weed in old Mexico.

A thing of beauty. I grew one here for a while - winters were such that the growth became tatty so each spring I cut it back to the woody base and was rewarded by 10ft of really vigorous growth with mega-sized 15" leaves. I imagine it exhausted itself as last year it barely struggled to make anything and this year was a no show. And, to be fair, it had no business surviving in England anyway

Not easy from cuttings. Huge failure rate, one reason it is rare commericially. Seed is a possibility but you have to have plants that have overwintered in good enough condition to make flowers and then left long enough to form seeds. Mine was one of maybe 3 or 4 in the entire country.

Locally, The Dry Garden almost always has it for sale. So if any of you are near north Oakland, you probably can find one there. What gets me though is..I haven't seen any others in anybody's yard.
