aka Cryosophila albida. This is the most common species of Cryosophila in cultivation and probably the most cold hardy, too. It pretty much looks like the other species of Cryosophila and grows similarly as well. This one grows to about 30' tall, with a thin trunk and deeply divided fan leaves that are deep to lime green on top and white underneath (pretty much like the other species). Root spines, coming from the lower 1/3 or so of the trunk, are common in the tropics but rare in a drier Mediterranean climate. The common name for this palm is Rootspine Palm. Grows best in a shady situation in California, but can tolerate full sun in the tropics.
