A molecular phylogenetic study of weed-field species of the genus Avena L. using marker sequences ITS1–5.8S rRNA gene–ITS2 was undertaken. In addition, next-generation sequencing (NGS) was performed on the Illuminaplatform for the ITS1 sequence and the beginning of the gene 5.8S rRNA. Sanger sequencing results revealed the separateclade of microspecies with a good level of support and small level of difference between themselves. According to NGSsequencing data, the two most abundant subgenomes in terms of the number of sequences were identified. Among thecommon sequences of hexaploids, those associated with the C-genome were not found. The presence of unique ribotypeswas shown for A. persica and A. georgica.

Genomic constitution of diploid species of the genus Avena L. with A-genome according to the data of the next-generation sequencing (NGS)For diploid (2x) species with the A-genome, as well as for hexaploid (6x) from the genus Avena, a locus-specific next-generation sequencing (NGS) of the sequence of the region of the internal transcribed spacer ITS1 and the beginning of the 5.8S rRNA gene was carried out on the Illumina platform. The high diversity and heterogeneity of the genomes of diploid species are shown. It was revealed that the genomes of modern diploid oat species are relatively far removed from the hexaploid species. It was found that A. canariensis occupies an isolated position among other diploid species, and also takes only an insignificant role in the formation of hexaploid genomes.

Study of phylogenetic relationships between wild and cultivated oat species (Avena L.)We performed next generation sequencing (NGS) of wild and cultivated oat species (Avena L.) ITS1 sequence and the beginning of the gene 5.8S rRNA on the Illumina platform. For the first time, the NGS method was used to carry out a phylogenetic analysis of the domestication pathways of three cultivated oat species: tetraploid A. abyssinica (AB), hexaploid A. sativa and A. byzantina (ACD). We found that the A. abyssinica genome with the most massive number of reads is the A-genome, while in A. sativa, it is the D-genome. Also, we studied the putative ways of obtaining polyploid genomes from diploid species. According to NGS sequencing data, it was revealed that the most widespread A. sativa ribotype is inherited from A. ludoviciana, A. byzantina has two unique families of ribotypes, and A. abyssinica probably comes from the wild A. vaviloviana (A-genome was obtained by this species from the diploid A. atlantica (As-genome)). Putative ancestor of A. abyssinica, tetraploid A. agadiriana...

Diversity of the species of genus Avena revealed by morphological characters and resistance to Fusarium infection of grain2017 •
Sixty six genotypes belong to wild and cultivated Avena species from the VIR collection were evaluated for infection of grain by Fusarium fungi and mycotoxins in accumulation. Among genotypes 13.6, 28.8, and 57.6% were diploid, tetraploid, and hexaploid oats, respectively. The aim of this study was to recognize the interrelationship between the wild species of the genus Avena not subjected to formal breeding programs, and Fusarium fungi, which have been reported as predominant seed borne pathogens. The real-time PCR was used to simultaneously detect and quantify fungi in grain of Avena genotypes. Mycotoxin analysis was performed by ELISA. The average amount of Fusarium DNA and deoxynivalenol (DON) in groups of the tetraploid oats were higher than they were found in the groups of di- and hexaploid species. It was determining the strong correlation between the presence of Tri-Fusarium DNA and DON content (p < 0,01). The low amounts of DON in the grain were detected in seven hexaplo...

Modern approach of structuring the variety diversity of the naked and covered forms of cultural oats (Avena sativa L.)2019 •
Structuring and phenotyping genetic diversity is an important aspect of the work with breeding sources and materials. In the Introduction, the authors pointed out the role of N.I. Vavilovs scientific foresight in defining the topical trend in researching the genetic diversity of a crop, particularly the analysis of its biochemical composition. As the target of their research, the authors chose biochemical characters identifiable in the process of metabolomic analysis conducted by means of gas chromatography with mass spectrometry. Materials and methods. The object was the grain of naked and covered forms of common oat (Avena sativa L.) from the collection held by the Oat, Rye and Barley Genetic Resources Department of VIR. The analysis of oil fatty acid content and metabolomic research were performed using the method of gas chromatography with mass spectrometry on the chromatograph Agilent 6850 (USA). Results. The obtained metabolomic spectra which reflected the metabolomic status o...

Antonina Vved. is recognized as a separate genus based on primarily morphological characters, first of all, calyx and leaf venation. The full synonymy for Antonina debilis (Bunge) Vved. is given including the new synonym, Calamintha caroli-henricana Kit Tan et Sorger. A new form (A. debilis f. eglandulosa Melnikov) is described, and three names (Thymus debilis Bunge, Calamintha annua Schrenk, and Calamintha caucasica Somm. et Lev.) are lectotypified. Antonina debilis is recorded for the first time from Turkey.
