(WTAJ) — As one of the top ten states that enjoys a beer, Pennsylvania’s favorite beer might come as a surprise.

The average American consumes 2.3 gallons of alcoholic drinks annually which include beer, mixed beverages and wines. Just like any other drink, not all beers are made equal and range in flavor, alcohol percentage and type.

In Pennsylvania, Bud Light took the number one spot. Bud Light is owned by Anheuser-Busch and offers many different products from beer to seltzers and cheladas. The beer products come in at 4.2%, 110 calories and 6.6 grams of carbs and is classified as an American-style light lager.

Pennsylvania is home to Yuengling Traditional Lager, which holds the title of “America’s oldest brewery” and is located in Pottsville. What might be surprising to beer drinkers is that Yuengling did not make the list as the Commonwealth’s favorite beer – maybe next time!

When it comes to enjoying a cold one with the boys, residents of Pa. know all about it! In a list where states were ranked based on how much beer they drink, Pa. settled into seventh place with about 1.33 gallons of ethanol per capita consumed. When it came to gallons over all, the Commonwealth rose to fourth place with a whopping 318.9 million gallons.
