RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A part of Princess Anne St. has been renamed Alicia Rasin St., named after Richmond's ambassador of compassion, in a street renaming ceremony.

On Monday, Mayor Dwight Jones held a ceremony to unveil an honorary street sign in her name on the 1900 block of Princess Anne Avenue.

Rasin founded Citizens Against Crime, an organization that helped keep crime rates low in some of the city's toughest neighborhoods for more than 30 years.

"While I believe that no one can do what Alisa did, we can all do something to curb violence in this city," Alicia's sister, Albertina Rasin Walker, said.

Rasin passed away on Oct. 9.
