To start the week we have this lovely dendrobium species.

Dendrobium adae is native to the northeastern Australia Cape York Peninsula,  northeastern Australia, where it grows in cool misty forest from 700m to 1200m as an epiphyte or lithophyte. The flowers are large for Australian dendrobiums, very fragrant during the day, and of a wonderful wavy texture.

Small plants produce one or two flowers be spike and as plants grow and the pseudobulb gets longer we get up to six flowers on a spike. We grow plants in pots and baskets in our cool Asia section with a minimum of 10C and water very well all summer when in growth. During the winter we keep plants damp to avoid pseudobulbs shrivelling.
