Penstemon albomarginatus. This is also called white-margined Penstemon because of the white stripe along the edge of the leaf. This plant is adapted to deep sand in the Mohave desert.
Penstemon albomarginatus – habitat. This was growing in a sand dune in Nevada.
Habitat = sand dune blowouts.
Penstemon ammophilus – This is the only species of Penstemon I know of that has purple hairs on the staminode. It looks like runway landing lights….

Penstemon debilis – one of the Federally listed species of Penstemon. This grows only on oil shale talus in a very small region in Colorado.
