Penstemon albomarginatus
Penstemon albomarginatus. This is also called white-margined Penstemon because of the white stripe along the edge of the leaf. This plant is adapted to deep sand in the Mohave desert.

The corolla opening is nearly blocked by hairs on the staminode and palate. I wonder if this is a signal mechanism to let a bee know the flower hasn't been visited.
