9. Chrystal's Death - Old
M. Night Shyamalan's Old is one of the most bats**t major releases of the year, and though picking just one WTF moment to rule them all isn't easy, it has to be the demise of Chrystal (Abbey Lee).
Old follows a group of strangers who find themselves rapidly aging on a mysterious beach at a holiday resort, and for poor Chrystal, this means her hypocalcemia - effectively an extreme calcium deficiency - causes her to die a brutal, horrifying death.
The ravages of expedited time cause Chrystal's condition to rapidly worsen later in the film, to the extent that she begins losing her mind while chasing Trent (Alex Wolff) and his sister Maddox (Thomasin McKenzie) around one of the beach's caves.
This results in Chrystal falling over and breaking many of her bones, which due to the faster flow of time also instantly set in place, transforming her into a grotesque spider-like abomination of contorted limbs.
It's absolutely terrifying and one of the most disturbing images Shyamalan has ever inflicted upon us - and that's including Avatar: The Last Airbender.
