BANGOR (WGME) -- The Maine DEA says three Penobscot County men were arrested Tuesday in a drug bust that involved a significant amount of cocaine, suspected drug money and firearms.
Police say the months-long investigation into cocaine distribution in Penobscot County was conducted by U.S. Postal Inspectors, the MDEA and the USDEA.
Investigators identified 28-year-old Chase Kane of Bangor as the main suspect in the trafficking organization.
Tuesday morning, police stopped Kane on I-95 near Newport. Police say 27-year-old Benjamin Hughes of Brewer was in the vehicle with Kane.
Officers searched the vehicle and found more than 4 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $200,000.
Both Kane and Hughes were charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
Kane was also charged with violations of conditions of release.
After the traffic stop, police executed a search warrant at 315 Griffin Road in Bangor.
Police say during the search, they found more drugs, firearms and suspected drug money.
Thirty-year-old Haydon Taylor was also arrested during the search. He was allegedly in possession of a backpack containing cocaine, $3,000 in suspected drug money and a loaded handgun.
Taylor is a convicted felon and not allowed to carry a firearm.
He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
