Eucalyptus arenicola

Tree to 12 m tall or mallee; bark rough, fibrous over trunk, extending to branches. Juvenile leaves sessile, opposite for many pairs, becoming petiolate, sublinear to narrowly lanceolate, 5–11 cm long, 0.8–1.6 cm wide, discolorous, blue-green above, whitish below; adult leaves petiolate, alternate, narrowly lanceolate or lanceolate, often slightly falcate, 7–14 cm long, 0.9–1.7 cm wide, concolorous, glossy, green; reticulation moderate, with numerous island oil glands. Inflorescences axillary, unbranched; peduncles 0.7–1.2 cm long, 11–many-flowered; buds shortly pedicellate, clavate, to 0.6 cm long, 0.4 cm diam., no scar (single operculum); operculum obtuse-conical to hemispherical; stamens inflexed; anthers dorsifixed, reniform; ovules in 2 vertical rows; flowers white. Fruits subsessile to pedicellate, hemispherical to cupular, 0.5–0.7 cm long, 0.7–0.9 cm wide; disc level; valves 3 or 4, rim level; seed black-brown, pyramidal but distorted by one curved face, hilum terminal. Flowers winter.
