General Information:

Small deciduous shrub, growing 50 - 150 cm tall. Native to cerrados and fields in the Federal District, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, and Mato Grosso do Sul.

Edible fruit is harvested from the wild for local use, occasionally cultivated in parts of Brazil.

Fruits can be eaten raw or used to make jellies and jams. Aromatic pear-shaped fruits are juicy, with an acid flavor.
