Full sun, moderately wet to medium moisture level, tolerant of a wide range of soils except rocky, moderately to slightly acid pH.  5-7 feet height, blooms from July until frost, yellow flowers, spreads at a moderate rate by rhizomes and re-seeding.

Native Region:  Statewide except absent in NE Tennessee

One of the tallest and most floriferous of the sunflowers.  Occurs naturally in flood plains, wet meadows and marshes.  Likely to need staking.  Attracts bees, butterflies and birds.
