Black Ruby Barb (Puntius nigrofasciatus)

Black Ruby Barbs can be identifies by their black stripped body and bright red head. Adults will grow to a bit over two inches in length, with the males being slightly larger overall than females. The entire dorsal fin will become deep black in males, while only the base of the dorsal fin becomes dark in females. They are friendly fish but may have issues with being out competed by larger fish, along with them also being a fin-nipping. They like to eat meaty foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms and daphnia as a snack but are predominantly vegetarian.
