Close related to Phaleria clerodendron, Phaleria octandra is a shrub or small tree found in tropical Australia. Grows up to 10-12 ft tall. White fragrant flowers form from November to February, then they turn brown. Attractive red fruit form from March to April. The shrub lights up with masses of flowers the scent of which permeates through the garden. Bird attracting. Suited as an garden plant in frost-free areas. Young plants need protection from winds, as well as plenty of shade and moisture.
