Sita Navami 2023: Significance
This day is considered to be one of the most auspicious day. It is believed that Sita Navami is celebrated after one month of Ram Navami. According to the Hindu Scriptures, She is an incarnation of Goddess Laxmi and married to Shri Ram who was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the prince of Ayodhya. There is a mention in Ramcharitmanas about Devi Sita and her life. Her life story is an inspiration to all the women out there. Her life was never easy even though she was a princess of Mithila and wife of Lord Shri Ram. In her early life she was sent to Vanvaas (exile) along with her husband Lord Rama and brother in law, Laxman. There she was abducted by demon king Ravana who took her to his kingdom, Lanka but never compromised her self respect.

She has gone through Agni Pariksha to prove her purity and after that she went to Valmiki Rishi Ashram there she gave birth to her children named Luv and Kush. She is a perfect example of a single mother who raised her children single handedly without her husband and family members. Today’s women can learn a lot of things from Goddess Sita and she is a symbol of power and strength.

As per mythology, the king of Mithila, Raja Janak was ploughing the field and there he got a pitcher and found a baby girl inside it. He took this girl with him to his kingdom and gave her name Janaki and accepted her as his daughter. When she grew up, king Janak organised a swayamvar for her and large number of kings participated in that to marry her. King Janak has this condition that the one who break the bow of Lord Shiva, will marry Goddess Sita. Lord Rama borke the Dhanush and married her.

  2. Take a wooden plan and spread a cloth, place and diol of Ram Darbar.
  3. Light a diya, put tilak, decorate them with flowers and offer sweets

  5. Some devotees organise Bhajan - Kirtan.
  6. People visit different temple dedicated to Lord Ram and Goddess Janki and offer prayers to them.
