Pictures.
The plant pictured represents the average quality and size of the plant you are buying. It is not the actual plant you will receive. 30cm wooden ruler in pic for example scale.
Listing is for a plant only, decorative pot is not included.
Shade lover.
Prefers bright indirect light. Morning sun before 9am. Strong direct sunlight may cause sunburnt leaves.
Check water.
This plant requires regular watering, allow top 1cm to dry out before rewatering. Don't let the base of the pot stand in water, tip out excess in the tray after watering. Overwatering can cause leaf and root rot.
Soil Mix.
This plant prefers a free-draining mix, I.E an Aroid mix with plenty of organic matter and a little premium potting mix added.
Fertiliser.
In the garden they like regular organic chicken pellet fertiliser Spring and Summer.
Indoors, regular foliar feeding with seaweed solution is beneficial. Slow-release fertiliser and chicken pellet fertiliser in the potting mix will also help your plant to grow well indoors.
Always follow the directions on your chosen fertiliser pack.
Pot preference.
Pot this plant into a regular pot that fits its root ball size.
Habit.
These are small clumping plants.
Origin.
Native to tropical forests in some areas of Brazil, esp. around Rio De Janeiro. These are forest floor dwellers and do well in the shade.
Common name - Brown Spiderwort or Bears ears.
Notes.
Siderasis fuscata multiply readily and can be propagated from these offsets, so there are lots of opportunities for new plants.
Remove any yellowed, spent leaves.
