Delve into the world of aquatic elegance with the Pearl Gourami, scientifically known as Trichopodus leeri. Recognized for its captivating beauty and peaceful demeanor, this gourami species adds a touch of grace to freshwater aquariums. Explore the distinctive features and care guidelines that make the Pearl Gourami a popular choice among aquarists.

Key Features:
- Pearl-like Spots: The Pearl Gourami earns its name from the iridescent, pearl-like spots that adorn its body, creating a shimmering effect in the aquarium.
- Labyrinth Organ: Like other gouramis, the Pearl Gourami possesses a labyrinth organ, allowing it to breathe air at the water's surface.
- Peaceful Nature: Known for its peaceful temperament, the Pearl Gourami is an excellent addition to community aquariums.

Tank Essentials:
- Adequate Tank Size: Provide a tank of at least 150 litres to accommodate the adult size of the Pearl Gourami and ensure ample swimming space.
- Subdued Lighting: Mimic the dappled sunlight of its natural habitat by providing subdued lighting with floating plants to create shaded areas.
- Floating Plants: Include floating plants like Water Wisteria or duckweed to offer cover and create a natural environment.

Water Parameters:
- Temperature: Maintain a temperature range of 25-28°C for the optimal well-being of the Pearl Gourami.
- pH Level: Aim for a slightly acidic to neutral pH range, typically between 6.0 and 7.5.

Feeding
The Pearl Gourami is omnivorous. Offer a varied diet comprising high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, or daphnia.

Compatibility
Pearl Gouramis are peaceful and can be kept with other peaceful fish of similar size. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive or fin-nipping species.

Breeding Behavior
Witness the intricate courtship and bubble nest-building behaviors of the Pearl Gourami during the breeding season. Provide floating plants or a breeding mop for the female to deposit eggs.
