Need a little extra shade on the deck or patio? And you not looking for a “heavy” vine to do the job? Well, Jolly Good Clematis might be your ticket for success. This light vine makes abundant coverage quickly year after year with just a little effort. Abundant, fragrant, light purple flowers with magenta undertones cover this clematis vine throughout late spring and all summer long.
White creamy stamens provide a charming contrast of colors. A Jackmanii clematis-hybrid, it is a vigorous grower, yet maintains a nice compact size that is perfect for training on fences, trellises, or doorways. The blooms can be different tones depending on the location in the landscape. In full sum the flowers will deeper in color than if planted in partial or shady areas. Still in all, ‘Jolly Good’ will not disappoint wherever it is planted!
‘Jolly Good’ flowers on new wood, so simply prune it back to two feet early spring. We recommend our Hi-Cote 19-4-12 360-day fertilizer at a medium rate to get this vine going in the spring, and maintain its vigor and health until fall, depending on your zone.
