Ann Hui is confident with "Our Time Will Come"

23 Jun - Hong Kong filmmaker Ann Hui is adamant that her new movie, "Our Time Will Come" is nothing like other movies about the fight against Japanese Occupation.

As reported on RTI, the director, who promoted her new movie at the Shanghai International Film Festival, shared that unlike most films that emphasise on the army's struggle, hers is a historical movie about a fight a few have known but one that shouldn't be forgotten.

"Our Time Will Come" tells the story of the legendary woman, Fang Gu, who is one of the key figures in the resistance against the Japanese aggression. Fang Gu and a group of patriots started a secret mission to rescue several hundred people stranded in Hong Kong during the occupation in the 1940s.

"I was really moved by the story of how these seemingly ordinary people stood up [against the oppressor] without any regard for their safety and personal gain in the time of crisis. Having people in all walks of life working together to rescue others for me is the greatest level of humanity. That's why I wanted to make this story," she said.

Ann added that she will forever consider the fighters heroes in her heart.

The movie stars Zhou Xun as guerilla fighter Fang Gu. It also co-stars Eddie Peng, Wallace Huo, Nina Paw, Jessie Li, and Tony Leung Ka Fai among others.
