Description
The jämthund was primarily bred as a guard dog and hunting dog, but can make a good house pet, as the breed does well with children and other pets. They are very smart and eager to learn, but at the same time they are stubborn, so a little persistence will be needed for training. They should be brushed often but bathed only when needed. The jämthund is so similar to the Norweigin Elkhound that until 1964 it was considered to be a larger variety of the breed.
