Cotyledons very small, 3-4 x 2-3 mm, oval-rounded, sessile-abundant, glabrous. Primordial leaves opposite, obovate-spatulate, toothed in the upper half with visible veins, glabrous. The hypocotyl axis is very short. Seedling light green.
Adult plant
Bellis annua is an annual with an upright-decumbent habit. Stem simple or branched from the base, not exceeding 15 cm high, pubescent. Leaves alternate, obovate-spatulate, attenuated in petiole, toothed or crenate in the upper half. Capitula solitary, terminal, radiate and ligulate, 0.5-2 cm (0.4-0.5 in.) across. Florets radiate in the centre, yellow, and ligulate around the edge, white above and white to purpurine below. Achenes very small, compressed, with thick margins, without pappus.

Algeria: Bellis annua is a rather rare species in the cereal systems of northern Algeria. It is a psammophilous species occupying sandy or sandy-loam soils, fresh, of sandstone or basaltic origin with an acidic tendency.
Morocco: Bellis annua is a very common species, growing in cool grasslands on sandy soil, up to 2000 m altitude.
