About this movie

"Tom & Viv" is the passionate true love story of T S Eliot, one of the greatest poets of the 20th Century, and his first wife, Vivienne, a vivacious society beauty. After a brief courtship, they married in haste and despite an intense and enduring love for each other, their mis-matched union was doomed from the start. Vivienne suffered from a hormonal imbalance, and the debilitating medicines she was prescribed to treat her condition often caused erratic and eccentric behaviour. As Eliot's career soared, Vivienne's behaviour became increasingly difficult for him and her family to handle and in a terrible act of convenience she was finally committed to an asylum. Set in the vibrant world of London between the Wars, "Tom & Viv'' explores the notion that out of their pain and difficulties came Eliot's finest work and although Vivienne has been written out of his story, her contribution to his life and work is immeasurable.
