This resilient plant typically grows in dry, rocky slopes and chaparral habitats, displaying a low, spreading form with twisting branches adorned by smooth, green leaves. Its bell-shaped flowers bloom in clusters, ranging from white to pale pink, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Germination

Arctostaphylos patula, or greenleaf manzanita can be germinated with these steps. First, clean the seeds thoroughly to remove any remaining pulp. Then, place the seeds in a container filled with a moistened medium such as sand or peat moss, ensuring good drainage. Store the container in a refrigerator or another cold location for a period of 60 to 90 days, mimicking winter conditions. After this stratification period, sow the seeds in a well-draining potting mix, lightly covering them with soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, and provide warmth and indirect sunlight. Germination typically occurs within 2 to 3 months under these conditions.
