We advised Property Finder on its buyout of first investor and debut financing provided by Francisco Partners. Recently, 16 Walkers 'ryders' took place in the 5th annual 24hr RYDE-a-thon at Camana Bay in Cayman. We are thankful for the opportunity to support our 'ryders' and help the community raise over $182,000 for the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation. Each of our team members completed three rides during the 24-hour period, demonstrating their commitment to raising awareness and funds for all those living with and affected by breast cancer. Thank you to all participants and supporters who helped make this year's Ryde-a-thon a resounding success. 

We are pleased to have acted as lead legal counsel to Wenia Ltd., a subsidiary of Bancolombia S.A., on its successful application for a Class F digital assets business license from the Bermuda Monetary Authority. While a run may not be on everyone's weekend list, we were thrilled to support the 10th annual Deputy Governor's 5K in Cayman. The annual run hosted this year by the Deputy Governor, Honourable Franz Manderson, supported three charities: BOYZ2MEN, the NCVO Cayman Islands, and the Addison Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund. Some 20 Walkers participants laced up their running shoes and joined the race to help raise awareness and funds for the local charities working to make a difference for future generations. We are honoured to have been part of this annual event. A big thank you to all organisers, participants and fellow sponsors.

Our Insolvency and Dispute Resolution team is to appear before the Court of Appeal, representing joint official liquidators in an appeal regarding the ability of shareholders, induced by fraudulent misrepresentation to subscribe for shares, to bring a claim for misrepresentation against an insolvent Cayman company. Two unrelated Grand Court decisions, In the Matter of HQP Corporation Limited (in Official Liquidation) FSD 190 of 2021 (DDJ) (7 July 2023) and In the Matter of Direct Lending (in Official Liquidation) FSD 108 of 2019 (NSJ) (13 March 2024), handed down within 8 months of one another, reached different conclusions on this issue. The parties in Direct Lending are now required to take steps to confirm if an appeal will be lodged against Justice Segal's first instance decision, to enable any such appeal to be heard jointly with the now adjourned appeal in HQP. Tom Smith KC of South Square Chambers, together with Shelley White, Siobhan Sheridan and Charlotte Raynor of Walkers' Cayman Islands IDR Group are navigating this unsettled area of law, as instructing attorneys on behalf of the joint official liquidators of HQP Corporation Limited (in Official Liquidation) (namely Chris Smith and Martin Trott of R&H Restructuring (Cayman) Ltd).
